Scór Na bPáistí: All our Na Gaeil participants in the Scór na bPáistí County Final shone brightly in a packed Tinteán Theatre, Ballybunion, yesterday, and were a credit to themselves, their families and their club. The atmosphere was electric as the audience enjoyed a thrilling showcase of top-class music, singing, acting, recitation, and dancing. The level of talent on display made for an intense competition, with adjudicators facing the nearly impossible task of awarding marks. While the silverware may have slipped from our grasp this time, our Na Gaeil stars gave it their all, and we couldn’t be prouder. Beimid ar ais.!!!! Comhghairdeas mór libh Aoibheann, Caoimhe, Eva, Ciara, Muiris, Sadhbh, Seoidín, Lily, Noah, Dylan, Harry, Rachel, Maria, Aoibhinn agus Amelie. To all who produced and helped prepare behind the scenes Mary Quirke, Nóra, Cáit Áine, Josephine, Ger agus Cáit Ní Ealaí go raibh míle maith agaibh uile. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
Ceol Traidisiúnta: Ceol den scoth i gClubtheach Na Gaeil ar an Aoine. Everyone present at Na Gaeil clubhouse last Friday was treated to an unforgettable evening of traditional Irish music at its finest. It was an honour for us at Na Gaeil to host the highly regarded musician and music teacher Michelle O’Sullivan, along with her highly talented Music Generation Junior and Senior Ensemble. Their performance truly captivated the audience, creating a wonderful night to remember. We look forward to welcoming this exceptional grúpa ceoil back again in the near future. Mo cheol sibh!
Credit Union Co. League Div. 3: Last Saturday evening our Senior Men were away to John Mitchels in Round 2 of the Credit Union County League Div. 3 and unfortunately we came away empty handed after a very closely contested game. John Mitchels settled quickly and had 3 points on the board before a Jack Sheehan free got Na Gaeil off the mark. A point from Jack Bourke was soon followed by an excellent 2-pointer from Andrew Barry to put Na Gaeil ahead. A point from Mark Lynch stretched our lead to 2 points but immediately John Mitchels added 2 points to level the game. The game continued to swing from end to end and both teams recorded a 2-point score, ours from the boot of Darragh Reen. Our hosts scored from a free before Jack Sheehan equalised, leaving the halftime score 8 points apiece. Both Fergal Barry and Jack Doyle were very much to the fore throughout the match and it was that pair who got Na Gaeil off to a flier at the start of the 2nd half with each of them raising a white flag. Two Jack Sheehan frees moved Na Gaeil into a sizeable 4 point lead with just 11 minutes gone. John Mitchels hadn’t scored for 20 minutes but their next score brought them right back into contention. A Na Gaeil attack broke down when Stefan appeared to be fouled and the home side worked the ball downfield for a goal. Soon afterwards our keeper Conor Bohane nailed a 45 to restore a 2 point lead before Mitchels added 1 from play. Next came John Mitchels second goal which put them ahead for the first time since early in the first half. With 5 minutes remaining Jack Sheehan kicked his 5th point of the game to leave just the minimum between the sides. Unfortunately for us it was Mitchels who got the next point, from a free, and despite a late point from Fergal Barry our lads were unable to manufacture the equaliser they needed. Final score: John Mitchels 2-10, Na Gaeil 0-15. Next weekend Castleisland Desmonds will be our opponents in Round 3.
