U16 Girls: Despite a great effort by our young team we were defeated by Beaufort last Thursday in the County League.

U17 Boys: Unfortunately our u17 lads went down to St. Michaels Foilmore/Skellig Rangers in the Club Championship Shield final in Cromane last Monday.

Senior Men: Last Saturday night our Senior men took on Milltown/Castlemaine in Round 1 of the Senior Club Championship in Austin Stack Park. The first half was evenly contested with never more than 2 points between the sides. The pick of the scores was a neat point from Dan Goggin following a slick move involving Diarmuid O’Connor, Andrew Barry and Enda O’Connor. Jack Bourke was very much to the fore in that first half helping himself to 3 points, one from a mark. A point each from Dara Devine, the impressive Kieran O’Connor and Oisin O’Brien kept the scoreboard ticking over but it was wind-assisted Milltown/Castlemaine who went in at halftime ahead by 10 points to 8. A swift start to the second half by our lads led to a pointed free from Dara Devine and another mark from Jack Bourke to level the match. A pointed free from Milltown/Castlemaine was cancelled out by another point from Jack Bourke from play. Neither team managed a score for the next 8 minutes until Jack Doyle kicked a great score to put Na Gaeil ahead for only the second time in the game. The game was in the balance at this stage and the next few minutes were probably where the game was lost. In the space of 5 minutes our lads twice went for goal when maybe a point was the better option. We also kicked an effort into the Milltown/Castlemaine keeper’s hands. Eventually two frees and a point from play by Dara Devine were matched by 4 from our opponents to leave the sides level after 29 minutes. Milltown/Castlemaine got the next point to edge ahead once more with the game in injury time. From the kickout Diarmuid O’Connor drove at the Milltown/Castlemaine defence and shot from 40m out. It looked to be the equaliser but the umpire waved it wide. Again our lads won the kickout and gained a 45m free. Diarmuid O’Connor stepped up to take it only for the ball to come back off the upright and the referee blew the final whistle. Despite the loss it was a great display by our lads considering how depleted our team was on the night. Next Saturday the lads will be away to Dingle in Round 2. Final score: Na Gaeil 0-15, Milltown/Castlemaine 0-16. Team: Jack Rodgers, Ryan O’Neill, Damien Bourke, Seán Barrett, Oisín O’Brien, Andrew Barry, Jack Doyle, Diarmuid O’Connor, Enda O’Connor, Peter Doyle, Kieran O’Connor, Kieran O’Donovan, Jack Bourke, Dara Devine, Dan Goggin. Subs: John Kearney, Mark Lynch, Kevin O’Donoghue, Oisín O’Sullivan, Liam Óg Kingston, Seamus Looney, Shane Kelly, Shawn Duggan, Rory Reen, Aaron Dewey, Shane Daly, Tadhg Reen, Fergal Barry.
