Fé 15 buachaillí: The u15 Central Region Division 1 final was played last Wednesday night in Austin Stack Park featuring Na Gaeil and Austin Stacks. Na Gaeil led at halftime by 1-3 to 1-2 but in a game where scores were hard to come by it was Austin Stacks who did enough to take the title on a final score of 2-4 to 1-4.

Fé 17 cailíní: No luck either for our u17 girls who lost to a strong Kerins O’Rahillys side last Wednesday in the County Championship.
Senior Men: Last Saturday evening in Milltown Na Gaeil took on Spa in Round 2 of the Garvey’s SuperValu County Championship. The first quarter was notable for the many chances we squandered whereas Spa had brought their shooting boots and led by 1-3 to nil after 15 minutes. And it would have been worse only for a great penalty save by Jack Rogers in the early minutes. A Dan Goggin point in the 23rd minute was to be our first score and he added another soon afterwards. Tomás Ó hAiniféin also got on the scoresheet just before the break to leave us training at halftime by 2-4 to 0-3. An early Darragh Reen free got us to 4 points but Spa converted a free too to keep the gap at 7points. The introduction of Diarmuid O’Connor at this stage was a great boost to our lads and 2 points from the excellent Dan Goggin and 1 from Diarmuid himself reduced the deficit to 4 points. Spa hit back with a killer goal but a few minutes later their centre-back received a black card. Our lads used the extra man to good advantage and Stefan powered through the Spa defence to rattle the net. Our tails were up and with 8 minutes remaining Jamesie O’Connor added a fine point to leave us training by just 3 points. But unfortunately for us a mistake in our defence saw Spa pounce for goal number 4. Another point from Diarmuid O’Connor was quickly cancelled out by 2 points from Spa. In the final minute of normal time Dan Goggin was at the end of a great Na Gaeil move and rifled the ball to the Spa net. A Dara Devine free immediately afterwards reduced the margin to 3 points but it was Spa who secured the final point of the game from a free. Final score: Na Gaeil 2-10, Spa 4-8. Team: Jack Rogers, Jack Doyle, Enda O’Connor, Ryan O’Neill, Seán Barrett, Stefan Okunbor, Fergal Barry, Damien Bourke, Tomás Ó hAiniféin, Jamesie O’Connor, Morgan Madden, Peter Doyle, Darragh Reen, Dan Goggin, Kieran O’Connor.
