Credit Union Co. League Div. 7B: Well done to our senior B team who defeated Clounmacon yesterday in Round 1 of the Co. League on a scoreline of 3-15 to 1-9.
Credit Union Co. League Div. 3: Yesterday our senior men’s team got their 2025 Credit Union County League campaign underway but unfortunately it was our visitors Listry who left with the 2 points. The early exchanges resulted in 2 points apiece, both Na Gaeil’s scores coming from the boot of Jack Sheehan. Kerry player Ruairí Murphy burst through for a Listry goal after 7 minutes but our lads responded well and 2 points from Dara Devine (1 free) and 1 from Darragh Reen either side of a Listry point, kept the deficit to the minimum. Our lads had chances to go ahead but unfortunately kicked 3 wides in a row. Listry finished the half stronger, outscoring our lads by 4 points to 2 to leave them ahead 1-7 to 0-7 at the break.
The visitors started the second half where they left off and increased their lead to 6 points but then Na Gaeil enjoyed a purple patch. A goal from Jack Sheehan was quickly followed by a point from Jack Bourke and then a goal from Damien Bourke to put Na Gaeil ahead for the first time. Listry were soon level before James O’Connor put us ahead once more. Then Listry levelled again. With 12 minutes remaining Na Gaeil had moved into a 3 point lead but Listry hit back with a 2-point score and their tails were up. They converted a free soon after to draw level. Crucially they then snatched a goal and quickly added a free before a Tomás Ó hAiniféin point gave Na Gaeil a glimmer of hope. But Listry weren’t to be denied and notched their final point in injury time. A late 2-pointer from Damien Bourke only served as a consolation score as the full-time whistle was blown soon after. Final score: Na Gaeil 2-15, Listry 2-17.
